The Dragon Riding Academy
Chapter 5
You probably
think that people go to (attend) the dragon riding academy to learn
how to ride dragons. A common and understandable misconception.
Really, not too much could be further from accurate.
First of All
there are many more staff and dragons and teachers and accomplished
riders at the academy than there are actual students.
The important
point (though) is that every student who attends All-ready knows how
to ride dragons. It is all-ready in the makeup, the cellular memory,
the DNA of every potential rider (possibly of every non-dragon). The
trick is (and this applies to sooooo many things) to remember.
A potential
rider (often referred to as a student) comes to the academy first and
foremost to meet “their” dragon. Of course, if (for some reason)
a dragon's rider is not present when a dragon hatches, the dragon can
be raised (to a certain point) by surrogates and (when ready) go out
into the world and find its rider.
Yes, there is
much for students to do while “they” wait to meet “their”
dragon. All this is more filler and play than what We think of as
training or study or “school”
(at least in 2012 and before). Perhaps You are reading this in My
future and All-ready know that “school”
is for playing. In My present, “school”
is still used to implement and sustain limitation. It is rigorous
and redundant because that is the only way to impose limitation on
limitless beans. If You are from My future, a lot of this chapter
will seem weird, outdated and redundant.
As
human beans We have taught OurSelves that “We can't” and “We
don't know how” in regards to just about everything. Therefore it
sounds very odd to hear that a person knows how to ride a dragon
without being taught. The thing is that people know how to do
everything without being taught, We just forgot. In fact We forgot
so well that most of Us would argue (quite literally) to the death to
prove that “We can't” and “We don't know how”. We even
forgot that dragons are real, at least most of Us did. Now how is
that for ridiculous? Does it get any more weird and ridiculous than
not believing in dragons? Well, if there is a way to get any more
weird and ridiculous then You can well believe that We humans have
gone to the ends of the earth to find it.
Now,
I think it is clear to see why many people misunderstand the purpose
and function of The Dragon Riding Academy. This is also why noOne
comes to the academy accidentally. Imagine a “normal”
or “typical” human
bean skipping along the road of life and just per chance “they”
“happen” upon The
Dragon Riding Academy. How would the psyche deal with a place that
is filled with beings that do NOT even exist. And how to cope with a
“school” that is
NOT about learning and producing children that are robots. A
“school” that is
filled with imaginary beings and children playing and laughing (talk
about imaginary beings) would be such a shock to the majority of
humans that it might even require “them” to be hospitalized.
Now
You know why dragons seldom go to market.
Originally
The Dragon Rider's Academy was located in a well populated area and
many roads led directly to the academy. This was in the old days (as
You may have All-ready guessed). In those days (before humans got so
silly about myths and mythical beings) everyOne was aware of the
beauty and reality of dragons and Fae creatures. We could All
interact and play well with each other. In fact I have even heard
that in those days..... no never mind. You would never believe that.
So,
what is The Dragon Riding Academy All about. Well, for One thing We
need a place to be together where people are not hunting and killing
Our imaginary friends and burning Us at the steak. (No, that is snot
a typo) A place where dragons and humans (and other beans who wish
it) can live together in peace and harmony. A place where potential
riders can hang out and play while waiting to meet “their”
dragon. A place where a student (no matter how well indoctrinated
otherwise) can remember and be supported in acknowledging that
dragons are (obviously) real and that “they” (the potential
rider) know how to ride a dragon.
There
are many other things that students may want to remember. Things
like how to fly, how to live underwater, how to add two and two and
get a thousand (or any other number). How to reach into the air and
pull out whatever You want. I really love that One. I love reaching
in and pulling out food that nobody had to die for.
Of
course there are many other academies where students can specialize
in other things and remember how to do specific things besides riding
dragons. I've All-ready typed some about The Space Walking Academy,
perhaps You have read some of that? There are even exchange programs
so that students from any academy can visit any and All other
academies to remember that specialty. Many human beans know how to
ride dragons but “they” may never believe “their” dragon into
existence. There are also people who have other interests. I can
not quite get My mind around anyOne being more interested in anything
besides dragon riding. I just don't get it.
If
You have read about The Space Walking Academy You All-ready know that
We and the dragons work closely with that academy. I enjoy working
with and being around space walkers, in fact (come to think of it) I
Am a space walker. Some of My best friends are space walkers. Yes,
space walking is thrilling, exciting and important. But, dragon
riding, it just does NOT
get any better than that.
I
may have covered some of this before but it may be worthy of
repeating. No One gets to The Dragon Riding Academy by accident. A
person (or other type of bean) may come to work and serve at the
academy and end up becoming a dragon rider. That is becoming more
and more common as more and more dragons are believed into
exis-dance. A potential rider may begin the journey to the academy
long before “they” real-eyes where “they” are headed. In
fact, some begin the journey before remembering that dragons are
real. The length of the journey can definitely depend on what One
believes. For someOne who has not remembered that dragons are real,
the dragons can not just whoosh “them” off and drop “them” in
the academy. At best, that would seem rude.
For
(shall We say) a non-believer the journey will involve incidents and
(apparent) accidents, dreams and exchanges with believers. These All
serve to wake the memory of the reality of dragons. Often other
memories are stirred in the process. Some even remember being free.
Imagine that. For most, the journey is about remembering what We
really are. For some it even includes remembering ALL that We are.
Please keep in mind: “The impossible takes a little longer”.
Every
trek to the academy is unique and serves the requirements of the One
on the trek. Is that a trekker? By golly, My spellchecker says that
“trekker” is actually a word. It even has definitions and
synathingies. (No that One isn't in the dictionary).
On
the journey the trekker remembers that dragons are real (or comes
very, very close to remembering) so that “they” do not just
stumble blindly into a place that has quite a large number of
dragons. Many do not (at this point) remember that “they” know
how to ride dragons. In fact many do not even remember that dragons
can be ridden. For most, remembering and believing that dragons are
real is really enough of a stretch. The riding part can comfortably
come later. So some arrivals choose to be staff and servants, at
least until “they” get it that “they” too can ride and what a
ride it will be.
Because
of the indoctrination that most of Us human beans have endured
(remember We chose this course and please do not start blaming
anyOne) We tend to think there is some class system and/or tests and
such to determine who is “qualified”
and who is snot. Rubbish and balderdash. EveryOne is qualified.
The question is can everyOne believe “their” dragon into
exis-dance????? You might think that a dragon's parents have more
to say about it than the rider does but think about it: “Would You
decide to pass something the size of a dragon egg?” Or even for
Your beloved to do so? As much as dragons love for people to believe
in “them”, for every new believer there is a likely chance that
some poor female dragon is going to have to pass another dragon egg.
Also, keep in mind that dragon eggs usually come in multiples.
As
much as I love dragons, I Am grateful I Am not a female dragon.
Yes,
it is true that not everyOne who believes in dragons believes another
dragon into exis-dance. I Am not sure why that is. I guess for some
(very) odd reason, not All believers aspire to be riders. How can
that be?
A
person who arrives at the academy All-ready knowing that “they”
have chosen (or are destined) to be a dragon rider will usually
proceed directly to the hatching grounds. Sometimes “they”
arrive just in the nick of time. I wonder if that is even possible?
Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that “they” arrive
exactly at the right time. I Am sure You guessed that this means:
“as 'their' dragon is hatching”. That happening is All-ways
sooooo exciting no matter how often it happens. It adds even more
drama to an All-ready very dramatic event.
The
majority of potential riders arrive at the academy before “their”
dragon hatches. This gives the rider time to adjust to academy life,
get some much needed rest and get “their” body in shape. Raising
a dragon is no easy feat. This is where dragon mommies get a break
after passing All those large
eggs. SomeOne else gets to attend to the “terrible twos”
and even worse: the dreaded “teens”.
If You think raising a teenage human or arcturian (or other
humanoid) is bad, try a teenage dragon. These become a child only a
rider could love. A dragon in puberty is simply NOT a pretty sight.
If (by some strange twist of fate) a dragon reaches this stage
without having found “their” rider the entire academy becomes
involved in attending to this dragon. No One (besides a dragon's
rider) could possibly go through that alone.
Actually,
even the dragon riders do not go through any of the process of
raising a dragon alone. That (obviously) is a large part of the
function of the academy. However, the bulk of the work and attention
must come from the rider. Support and advice and comfort for the
rider comes from the academy. One good way of describing the
difference between the academy and the “outside” world
is that at the academy the answer is: “Yes, You can”.
A
student who arrives before “their” dragon hatches gets a lot of
practice staying up All night (even after a very busy day at playing)
with a baby dragon that is out of sorts. This happens. For the
student who arrives at the hatching of “their” dragon the first
time can be quite upsetting. I think You can imagine what I Am
talking about. Just in case You don't get the idea, I have two words
for You: “fire farts”.
As
a dragon grows (and goes) so grows the rider. Regardless of any
inconvenience involved in raising a dragon it is a task (indeed a
life) that no rider would ever choose to miss. Spending One's life
in attendance to a dragon is worth any price. Spending One's life in
the embrace and attention of a dragon is far beyond priceless. It is
a gift that can never be described and it can never be repeated. It
is a gift that can only be lived and it can only be lived Once.
And
somewhere in the midst of that experience, that life comes the first
ride.
That
will have to be another chapter.
